Organizing Saved Bookmarks and Favorites

Once you have created a bookmark or a favorite listing you will want to manage them by placing them in specially designated folders, otherwise they will appear as a long list of individual Web page names that you must scan every time you wish to return to a particular site.

Managing Favorites with Internet Explorer:

1.
Click on "Favorites."  When the Menu opens, click on "Organize favorites." The Organize Favorites window will open.

2.  If you have already created a folder (such as Online Course Materials) then click on Move to Folder. When the Browse for Folder window appears, click on the folder in which you want to store this item.  Click "OK" and the item will be placed into that folder.

3.  If you have not created a folder yet, click on "Create Folder."  A blank folder will appear at the very bottom of the list of folders and Web site titles. Enter the name of the folder (such as Online Course Materials) in the space provided and click "Close."

You may also rename and delete folders and Web sites from this window.

Managing Bookmarks with Netscape:

1.  Click on "Bookmarks." When the drop-down menu opens, click on "Manage Bookmarks."

2.  The "Bookmarks for default" window will open, listing the folders already present.  To create a new folder, click "New Folder."  When the New Folder window opens type the title of your folder in the space provided and click "OK."

3.  To add a Web site into a previously created folder, click on "File Bookmarks" while still in the "Bookmarks for default" window.  A "Choose Folder" window will open. Click on the folder in which you want to store the Web site and click "OK."

You may also rename and delete folders and Web sites from this window.
